My Approach

My approach to counselling is Integrative. This means that I will work with you drawing from a variety of models of counselling to suit your individual needs to best support you in achieving positive change.

I practice in a predominately person-centred way with the relationship at the heart of therapy and providing you with a warm, supportive, secure, and confidential space to talk about how you really feel. It is my belief that by offering a non-judgmental, and authentic relationship that healing can take place.

Some clients have requested longer term therapy to focus on working through deeper issues and childhood experiences, whilst others request a limited number of sessions to work through an immediate challenge.  I offer flexibility within sessions focusing on what the client wishes to work through at that time.  As Carl Rogers’ acknowledges it is the individual “… who knows what hurts, what direction to go and what problems are crucial and what experiences have been deeply buried (On Becoming a Person, 1961, p.11-12).

Counselling Experience

I have over 10 years of counselling experience. During this time, I have worked with a diverse range of clients, from varying age groups, cultures and backgrounds providing counselling support for issues such as abuse, anxiety, depression, pregnancy issues, low self-esteem, stress, grief and issues around sexuality. I also provide online therapeutic counselling services to medical service providers for their clients who are often based abroad. I am soon to be providing mentoring support to university and college students in the Poole and Bournemouth area.
